World Action on Salt. Sugar & Health

Resources

It’s time to swap out the salt!

Regularly eating too much salt can increase our risk of developing high blood pressure and heart disease. No matter our age, gender or ethnicity, everyone can benefit from reducing their salt intake. The sooner we switch to a lower-salt diet, the less strain we place on our hearts, and with rising blood pressure levels in children, it's clear that salt consumption isn't just a concern for exclusively older generations.

Throughout the week we will be highlighting the health impacts of salt and calling on the food industry and out-of-home sector to do more to reduce the amount of salt added into our foods. We will also be encouraging the public to make simple swaps and changes to their eating, cooking, and purchasing habits to reduce their salt and improve their heart health.
