2014
In a recent survey, LASH found that more than a third of the population don’t consult food content labels when shopping and less than a quarter correctly identified the main sources of salt in the diet. The average salt intake in the population is estimated to be 7.8g/day, much higher than the WHO’s recommendation of 5g per day. For more information, please click here.
2012
Lebanese Action on Salt and Health (LASH), as part of the Vascular Medicine Program at the American University of Beirut Medical Center, was set up in February 2012. LASH aims to reduce salt intake in the country through activities such as improving salt knowledge, attitudes and behaviours, and encouraging product reformulation.
