World Action on Salt. Sugar & Health

Bhutan

2016

Following the 2014 National NCDs Risk Factors survey finding that 36% of the Bhutanese population had raised blood pressure, and that the Bhutanese population consume 9g salt per day, the Royal Government of Bhutan developed and endorsed the National Multi-sectoral Strategy and Action Plan for the Prevention and Control of NCDs in 2015. In 2016 the Ministry of Health and the WHO Bhutan Office organised a workshop to develop the National Salt Reduction Strategy.  The draft strategy will be finalised by the end of October 2016.
