- I’m supporting @WASHSALT #SugarAwarenessWeek 2022! Sugar is added to so many foods and drinks and, globally, we are all eating too much sugar as a result. The food industry must act now to protect health https://www.worldactiononsalt.com/awarenessweek/sugar-awareness-week/world-sugar-awareness-week-2022/
- Breakfast should be the most important meal of the day, but the food industry are filling our favourite breakfast foods and drinks with sugar. I'm supporting #SugarAwarenessWeek and call on the food industry to take action now and protect health https://www.worldactiononsalt.com/awarenessweek/sugar-awareness-week/world-sugar-awareness-week-2022/
- Support #SugarAwarenessWeek and call on the food industry to add less sugar to breakfast foods and drinks. The first meal of the day shouldn't contain as much sugar as a dessert https://www.worldactiononsalt.com/awarenessweek/sugar-awareness-week/world-sugar-awareness-week-2022/
Events during the week
- Decide on relevant supporting events such as presentations to government departments, schools or health care professionals
- Decide who to invite to speak and who to attend – send out letters/emails
- Send out brief overview of the week to Non-Governmental Organisations and journalists to advertise the week
Press release
- Use the sugar reduction message to prepare a short press release
- Distribute to local and national journalists and media outlets. Be prepared to dicuss Sugar Awareness Week in print or on the radio!
- Talk about the press release on your social channels
Funding
While there are no funds available from WASSH support an international event, we recommend you try the following routes for sponsorship and donations:
- Request financial support from catering and food companies that are committed to sugar reduction and who have no conflicts of interest, as well as from other funding bodies such as charities. We can provide standard applications which can be adapted for your work
- You may be able to offer some publicity on funders' behalf such as logos on leaflets, or exhibition space at events
