Get Involved
Anyone can take part in the week, and there are a number of ways to get involved!
Social Media
Join us on X (formerly Twitter), LinkedIn, Bluesky and Instagram! We'll be using the hashtag #SaltAwarenessWeek on our social media accounts - use this on your posts too so that we can see them and retweet!
Events during the week
If you are planning to run some local events during Salt Awareness Week to promote salt reduction, here's a list of things to consider:
- Who is your event aimed towards? It is a presentation to government departments, schools or health care professionals?
- Decide which speakers to invite, and who you want to attend – send out letters or emails!
- Send out brief overview or press release of the week to non-governmental organisations, journalists, and media outlets. Be prepared to discuss Salt Awareness Week in print or on the radio!
- Talk about the event or press release on your social channels.
Get Writing!
Write to your favourite food companies to ask them to put less salt in their products - did you know that the level of salt in products varies between countries? If some countries are getting lower salt products that still taste good, why aren't all countries?
You can also write to your representatives in local or national government and ask them what steps they are taking to make sure your health is protected against unnecessarily salty foods.
If you are getting involved in Salt Awareness Week, we'd love to hear about it! Email us at wash@qmul.ac.uk with your updates.
